CORSAIR
Attempting to be remembered as noble for their desire to avoid clichés,
Corsair would best describe themselves as modern pop with independent
influences. Similarly, the band would hope that based on the previous
statement, anyone reading this description would hopefully dismiss the
most negative connotations of either genre just mentioned. More likely to
take their cues from Brian Eno than Steve Vai, Corsair steer away from
traditional rock while upholding the values and importance of
musicianship. Taking their ideas from the evening news, an anthropology
textbook or their favorite movies, songs aren't written in Corsair they
just happen. Without being too preachy or self-absorbed in their own
commentary, Corsair maintain that they have more questions than answers
and seek to find that common ground with their listeners.
Corsair is a talented band with much to offer any venue, record label or
fan and strive to be valued as a musical investment made of young
professionals who pride themselves on living up to expectations. The band
acknowledges its fans and supporters as more important than the gear they
use. Showmanship and product value are as much a controlling factor in the
activity of the band as the influences that govern the member's styles.

PH BALANCE
The PH of PH Balance is Pam Howe; a woman on a mission. A soul mission.
Channeling transmissions that say solution! Ph Balance was birthed in 1996
from a love of hip-hop, trip-hop, Bossa Nova and acid jazz with a mission
toward southern poetic communication transferred via soul hums and collard
greens. Immediately and unanimously dubbed Atlanta's premier trip-hop band
after they infiltrated the underground DJ scene, PH Balance has gone on to
play shows with The Indigo Girls, St. Etienne, Lo Fidelity All-stars,
Joydrop, Shootyz Groove, Josh Joplin, They Might Be Giants, Lake Trout,
Tahiti 80, Billionaire, Pete Yorn, Professor Griff, the New Deal, DJ Krush,
Drums and Tuba, and Cornershop.
PH Balance videos "Elegant Intricate" and "Soothing" both directed by
Atlanta visual artist Franklin Lopez. (The Stimulator) are amoung the
Indie Amplifier's most played videos. "Eligant Intricate" was one of the
videos featured on our priemere show, (remember this because it is sure to
be the answer to a future trivia question) and the video for the single
"Soothing" from their debut album has won indie film awards while the song
"Flora Avenue" was featured in the 2002 edition of The Real World on MTV.

M80
M80 is a group of guys who on their CD's and live shows can deliver a
variety of styles and deliver them with bombast, verve and just the right
amount of juxtaposition. You heard that right I did say "juxtaposition".
From pop, to rock, to even a very convincing blues number Bill Shadle,
Mike Lamb, Greg Wilson, and MJ Slim have the talent and passion to deliver
the goods. Prior to M80 the guys have played together and separately in
various great indie bands such as Borneo, The Surf, Wild West Picture
Show, The Lovely Lads, and His Boy Elroy.
M80 has really embraced indie video production and has three different
videos that consistently air on the Indie Amplifier. The first video we
ever aired on our show, "Where's Your Daddy Gone", was shot on Super 16mm
film (somewhat a rare feat in todays indie video world) tells a mysterious
story of lost love and obsession. The video for "If I had a Party" was
shot live style (one pass through with multiple cameras) at a Rock'nRoll
swimsuit fashion show in Las Vegas. How do they get these gigs? The third
M80 video is for a thought provoking, beautiful song called "Soma". The
scenes for the video were shot in Red Rocks, Nevada and downtown Atlanta.
You might even say the two different locations create an interesting
juxtaposition…..

RED TO VIOLET
Red to Violet is an award winning alt rock duo from Holland. El provides
lead vocals, guitar and percussion while Onno supplies guitars and backing
vocals. Golden Earring' guitarist, famous for his hits Radar Love and
Twilight Zone, let Red to Violet & their recording engineer Kees van Gool
use his analog 24 track gear for the recording and mixing of their CD. The
mastering was done at the legendary Abbey Roads studios. All this by
itself doesn't guarantee good music, but in this case of this talented duo
it definitely did! Their song "Anyone" has won the alt song category for
JPFolks independent music awards and "Mr J" has received extensive airplay
on 98 college radio stations.
Red to Violet Reviews:
"high standard debut, sensual voice and liquid flow guitars" (altarnative.com)
"voice is reminiscent of Chrissie Hynde, fans of Sticky Fingers-era Stones
and Lou Reed should definitely get this album, production really shines
through (bigindiemusic.com)
"amazingly toxic free rock by mystical rock-gurus form Holland (nywaste,
cult paper) |

DASH
From the bayous of the Pelican State hails one of the wildest, notorious,
and hilarious rock bands to ever crawl from the mud. Dash (formerly Dash
Rip Rock) has been a long time favorite on the southern party rock circuit
and they are still blasting along like a gumbo-fueled gator boat. Their
humor shines through in the music: songs like "Locked Inside a Liquor
Store", Pussywhipped" and "Let's Go Smoke Some Pot" are fave regional
barnburners. They have toured the world endlessly, playing to maniacal
crowds throughout Europe, Canada, and the USA.
Dash Press Clips & Raves
"Undeniably the south's greatest rock band" - SPIN
"Dash has evolved into a good atl. Country group; like Nick Lowe rockin'
with the Beatles - OFFBEAT MAGAZINE
"They're the best rock band in the world" - Robin Wilson, Gin Blossoms
"DASH ROCKS! They are my favorite party band" Darius Rucker, Hootie and
the Blowfish
Their video for the incredibly catchy song "Eventually Evangeline" is a
story of lost love supported by an interesting mix of images; bayou nature
footage, scenes of a beautiful southern belle at a cemetery, scenes of the
same belle as an exotic dancer, and of coarse shots of our heroes, Dash,
rockin the joint. |

RIPE RIPE is a 7
piece progressive pop rock band based in NYC. The music of RIPE is a cross
between Dave Matthews Band and Vanessa Carlton with a little Sugar Ray
added, for taste and texture. RIPE has played high profile gigs like NCAA
2002 Sweet 16 basketball championship in Syracuse NY. RIPE's National
Anthem is a staple at Brooklyn Cyclones Baseball games. RIPE has performed
on CBS local TV, and had a song played on WPLJ in NYC. The band has also
provided entertainment for colleges and plans to travel to Russia for
their first international tour in August 2003.
RIPE's "Don't go back" video is a true story that many know--the song
tells of a relationship gone wrong. In this video, the vocalists of RIPE
(Christa McNamee, Leia Thompson, Jessica Grant) act as Furies, urging the
main character (Ripe Keyboardist Dan Bar Hava) to break the pattern of
dwelling on the relationship that is lost to him. |

SHOCKPLATE
SHOCKPLATE make no apologies for what they are: true V10-powered heavy
metal, charging toward your face with Marshall stacks and double-bass drum
slaps. No nu-LinkinLimp-metal here-just true, American fury coming at you,
courtesy five Georgia residents who've been sent to sweet-talk your ear
canals with vocal melody, right before deflowering them with the old
Gibson/Ibanez crunch. Part of the few-but-proud Atlanta metal scene,
they've been inspiring new metal-men for years, flying in the face of the
feeble-minded, 'failed-musician' critics that believe all music should
sound like pop-punk or Britpop. And doing it all while earning the praise
and admiration of those who understand perseverance and the need to keep
music intense.
Narrow Path, their first video, stays right in line with SP's desire to
continue pairing the heaviest music possible with the most unexpected
vocal harmonies imaginable. By entering a fanatical sect's world of
Bible-Belt "hell and brimstone" religion, the video explores the mind of a
youth paralyzed by a parent-instilled fear of the Rapture and the coming
of the Beast. As images of sin and sanctification blend to pick at the
scabs of his innocence, the youth remains damned to question every day
whether his own soul will be 'left behind' to burn after Jesus' return. So
take your favorite barber-shop quartet, mix in true-strength heavy metal,
and you've got SHOCKPLATE. Visit them at
www.shockplate.com, but first, ask
your mom. |
